Rarely do you find a two album set this strong. Often times one album is spectacular while the other lacks punch OR both are mediocre at best. Jimmi Hendrix did it with 'Electric Lady Land', The Who did it with 'Tommy'(although there was a couple real bombs on that one)...Pink Floyd did it with 'The Wall'. This is a spectacular two album set, very strong from beginning to end. Although the story it tells is quite depressing at best even David Gilmour claims he refused to do it the way Roger Waters presented it to the band as it was far too depressing in its original form. It had to be brightened up a bit before the rest of the band would even agree to perform it(if you can believe that!). 'The Wall' is a testament to Pink Floyds true musical abilities, there is no doubt these men were geniuses concerning the art of music... Both albums combined tell the story of a man descending into utter madness while simultaneously explaining 'why' hes descending into utter madness. Its done extremely well, an amazing story told by song, however as I get older the story itself seems to become less and less appealing. While the music(instrumentals) on the other hand remains absolutely fantastic. Enjoy!
