10/10 Bruce Beatlefan (August 19, 2005)
Well thousands and thousands of words have been written about this album...its place in music history, its excellence, its psychological and artistic analyses. All I have to add is this...

It is interesting how this album is used by nearly everyone to prove their particular point about the Beatles--ANY point! "This album shows that John Lennon was the sensitive Beatle (Julia and Dear Prudence)"..."John was just wasted and going through the motions by this time (Cry Baby Cry and Revolution #9)"..."All Paul could do was irritating vaudevilly songs (Honey Pie and Ob-la-di Ob-la-da)"..."Paul's writing is limited to pop ballads (Mother Nature's Son and I Will)"..."George has really emerged as a prolific writer of quality music (four songs, and Not Guilty and Something were bumped)"..."George's weak songwriting is shown in Piggies and Savoy Truffle"..."This album shows that Paul was the true rocker in the group (Helter Skelter and Birthday)"...you get the point. I have read all this stuff, and sentiments like this, in various places. The most ridiculous is the John Lennon biography by Ray Coleman, who in comparing John's and Paul's writing craftsmanship, distills Paul's entire contribution to this album to a single song: Martha My Dear!!

My point is this...everybody in this album does everything, and well. Even Ringo writes a song! Listen to it without having an axe to grind and the genius, the fun, the dizzying variety will accomplish what it was meant to...
10/10 Oscar (July 23, 2005)
This album emphasizes all of their talents as solo artists. It has excellent tracks from all of them (except Ringo), but it also has a hand full of duds.
10/10 Leslie (July 7, 2004)
