Don Kuper (November 5, 2005)
I am surprised not to see a review of Relayer. If you are a progressive rock fan this is a must album. This is the only album in which Patrick Moraz records with the band and he brings a jazz fusion sound that lends itself well to all the other styles that Yes have explored through the years. The format is similar to Close to the Edge but the music is different. Gates of Delirium is a classic in my book. The band really gets down to some fine jamming yet always controlled and heading in a positive direction. The ballad "Soon" is not melancholy as some have suggested but rather spiritual and has a note of hope. Sound Chaser is quite jazzy and To Be Over reminiscent of And You and I. I will always remember Relayer with fond memories.
