Heart Fan (June 23, 2004)
'Heart' was released when rock n roll was rock n roll! and these two ladies were the undisputed Queens. There was something about those 70s not exactly what it was but I personally believe rock n roll has never achieved such awe inspiring success since then. Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, David Bowie, Jethro Tull, Yes, The Eagles, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Boston, Wings, Steely Dan and many, many more were releasing one multi-platinum powerhouse after another at what seemed to be a lightning speed pace! Heart was another band amongst those amazing Super Groups releasing exceptional music, carving their own niche deeply into the untouchable platinum fortress known as 70s rock n roll...This album is one to be remembered

Goes without saying, this is the great album evoking a time when things chilled. All the songs are there's and they sing no cover tunes of others like the other previous albums.
The cover speaks for itself, -a troup of Medival gypsies out to take the town, 13th Century antiques in hand. Play the album and some of the sweatest muse-like songs you've ever heard come out. Best to listen to this album on a summer morning when the dew is still on the ground. It doesn't "rock" like Heavy Metal. It rocks, and brings the ladies along for the ride, and what could be better than that? Maybe it's just the period of my life when I first heard it, back when I could count the bands that existed on one count of my fingers, but this album is cool. I miss the Heart when Ann was skinny and the original band was together with Steve Fossen from "The Army" days, etc. and they were tight. Petty quibbling and incestual flings amongst the band members ruined them. Perhaps their very greatness brought them down. |
