Evening: The Sun Set (Pinder) - 3:17 / Twilight Time

Average song rating After a linking orchestral passage composed by Peter Knight, we once again encounter two distinct Moody Blues songs combined to form a single track. Michael Pinder contributes the pensive "Sun Set": like most Pinder offerings, sparse in the vocal part, expressive in the instrumental part. Ray Thomas then comes in with the album's second rocker, "Twilight Time". Thomas trades in his emphasis on childlike wonder to those of nature, again using exceptionally vivid word pictures ("...an aerial display from the firefly brigade dancing to tunes no one knew..."). An exceptional album has already been assembled by the group, but the stage has just been set for the climactic masterwork... Bruce Beatlefan November 12, 2011

Lyrics

When the sun goes down,
And the clouds all frown,
Night has begun for the sunset.

See it with your eyes;
Earth re-energized
By the sun's rays every day.
Take a look out there,
Planets everywhere.

When the sun goes down,
And the clouds all frown,
Night has begun for the sunset.

Shadows on the ground;
Never make a sound,
Fading away in the sunset.
Night has now become
Day for everyone.

I can see it all
From this great height.
I can feel the sun
Slipping out of sight;
And the world still goes on
Through the night.
