Never Comes the Day

Average song rating Pleasant but plodding Justin Hayward song which was, perhaps unwisely, chosen as the album's single (it fizzled at #91--"Lovely to See You" would have probably fared much better). The best part of the song is the transitional part ("...if only you know what's inside of me...") that links together the gloomy verse and the repetitive semi-rocking chorus. Curiously, that passage also adds a distinct ambiguity to the lyrics, when Justin's regret for not spending more time with his lover is confounded by his new admission that perhaps if she knew who he really was, she may reject him. "Never Comes the Day" is one of the stronger tracks from this album, but is not one of Justin's more memorable songs. Bruce Beatlefan November 21, 2011

Lyrics

Work away today, work away tomorrow.
Never comes the day for my love and me.
I feel her gently sighing as the evening slips away.
If only you knew what's inside of me now
You wouldn't want to know me somehow,
But
You will love me tonight,
We alone will be alright,
In the end.

Give just a little bit more
Take a little bit less
From each other tonight
Admit what you're feeling
And see what's in front of you,
It's never out of your sight.
You know it's true,
We all know that it's true.

Work away today, think about tomorrow
Never comes the day for my love and me.
I feel her gently sighing as the evening slips away.
If only you knew what's inside of me now
You wouldn't want to know me somehow,
But
You will love me tonight,
We alone will be alright,
In the end.

Give just a little bit more
Take a little bit less
From each other tonight
Admit what you're feeling
And see what's in front of you,
It's never out of your sight.
You know it's true,
We all know that it's true.
