Average song rating Interesting that Paul McCartney re-interpreted already existing children's songs twice in a three-year period. In "Golden Slumbers" Paul was intrigued by Thomas Dekker's lyrics to an unknown melody and turned it into a Beatle classic which segues into some of their most hard-driven rock and roll. Two years later, with the first Wings lineup, you can hear his take on "Mary Had A Little Lamb" (in honor of new baby Mary) which is literally a family singalong with Linda and young step-daughter Heather See. Lyrics

Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye

Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye

Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye
