Call Me Back Again

Average song rating A showcase for Paul's voice and he makes it clear why he and nobody else should take the lead vocals within Wings.

Average song rating "Call Me Back Again" is a dramatic and excellent Motown-styled belter after the fashion of the McCartney/Beatles classics "Got to Get You Into My Life" and "Oh! Darling". One striking difference here, however, is that the Beatles cuts feature Paul singing by himself (although both cases had preliminary versions containing Lennon/Harrison backing vocals); in "Call Me Back Again" Paul accepts the help of Linda and Denny Laine's accompaniment. It is, of course, absurd to draw the conclusion that Paul preferred Linda/Laine backing over Lennon/Harrison, but you gotta admit that the blend is wonderful (as it is again in later R&B-styled cuts "What's That You're Doing", "Girlfriend", and "So Bad". Lyrics

Well when i, when I was
Just a little baby boy
Every night I would call
Your number brought me joy.

I called your house, every night since then
But I ain't never, no no never
Heard you calling me
Come on and call me back again ...

Call me back again.

I've heard your name every night since then
But I ain't never, no no never ...

Well when i, when I was
Just a little baby boy
Every night, every night
I would call because your number
Brought me joy

Oh -- I've called your name
Every night since then,
But I ain't never, no no no no never
Heard you calling me
Come on and call me back again.

Call me back again.
