A nice little oddity track which emphasizes the prog-synthesizer sound which dominates the set of recordings which became the Venus and Mars album. Funny that Paul would take his crew to New Orleans and come up with a collection of songs that sounds mostly like a collection of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer tracks filtered through McCartney's songwriting traits (Rock Show = Karn Evil 9, Magneto & Titanium Man = The Sheriff, Venus & Mars = Stones of Years (Tarkus), Love in Song = Trilogy (the slow part).) You can take "Lunch Box/Odd Sox" and inject it directly in the middle of any of ELP's early albums and not miss a beat. |
