Paul's collaborations with Stevie Wonder are not amongst his finest moments as far as I'm concerned. This song, together with Ebony And Ivory, is most probably the weakest song on the album. It's far too long (6.18). Stevie's and Paul's voices are not matching nicely as well and Paul singing disco sounds strange as well. For me, Stevie Wonder's career has sort of paralleled Paul McCartney's, as both have been subject to more criticism than they probably deserve. I know I've spent a lot of time wishing Stevie did more songs like "Superstitious" and "Higher Ground" and fewer like "Yester-me Yester-you" and "I Just Called to Say...". So it's funny that Macca and Wonder do two songs together in this album, one of which brings out their most pukey qualities ("Ebony and Ivory") and this one, which generates some severe sparks. | Bruce Beatlefan | February 16, 2008 |
