	McCartney nearly always clears a space on his album for a R&B-styled track. In previous efforts at this the songs seem to be nothing more than surface-level imitations of a Black artist's voice (such as Little Richard or Prince or Michael Jackson) or adding Motownesque horns. Beginning with Pipes of Peace's "So Bad", however, his soulfoul offerings really begin to hit a groove without blatantly imitating any particular artist, and his latter-day soul music ("Write Away", "Motor of Love", "Souvenir") is his finest.
