I'm Carrying

Average song rating Some critics regard this song as overrated, but I seem to like it enough. It's the standard McCartney ballad that's coming on most of his albums, but the acoustic guitar is delicate and I like it. The entrance of the strings at 0.39 is nice. Simple notes, but they really add something to the song. The hummed solo is a skip for me, a pity, although the cello gives a touch to it.

Average song rating The only explanation I can fathom for this song is that Paul wrote it for Linda to sing (having recently given birth to their third child James). Linda, remembering the "Cook of the House" debacle, wisely demurred and Paul said very well, changed a few words, and sang it himself. This song doesn't hold a candle to any of Paul's best love songs. Bruce Beatlefan November 28, 2009

Lyrics

By dawn's first light I'll come back to your room again
With my carnation hidden by the packages
I'm carrying, something
I'm carrying something for you

Ah, long time no see baby sure has been a while
And if my reappearance lacks a sense of style
I'm carrying, something
I'm carrying something for you

I'm carrying.
I'm carrying, can't help it.

I'm carrying.
I'm carrying something for you.
